Right now, Pennsylvania's legislators are trying to decide what the state budget should be for the next year. We want them to know that services to people with disabilities are important, and funding for them should not be reduced. The budget that Governor Corbett proposed contains a proposed $27 million cut to funding for food and shelter for people with intellectual disabilities who live in group homes - that cut has the potential to affect almost 16,000 people's lives! Please help us take action to protect our residents and group homes.
Advocating for people with disabilties ensures their rights are protected, funding is available, and they have a better chance at a rich, fulfilling life.   EHCA encourages our supporters to use the PAR (Pennsylvania Association of Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disabilities) Action Center to: learn about legislation affecting autism and intellectual disabilities, send e-mails and letters to elected officials, send messages to media, and even register to vote. The online tools to find which officials are in your area and to address issues at hand make the site easy and quick to use.  Sometimes we need to use our voices to help others be heard, so sign up for PAR's action alerts and do your part to keep this population protected with necessary government resources.
